An Island Reunion: Mr. & Mrs. Rollins

What better way to wrap up the year than to share one of my favorite sessions! During a visit to Oahu this fall, I had the opportunity to meet up with one of the cutest couples out there- Ally & Brandon. I first met Ally & Brandon at Brandon's homecoming ceremony at Fort Campbell:

A few months later, I had them in front of my lens again for pre-Army-ball pictures:

Then, last year, we were able to reunite with Brandon's family in the California wine country!

So, when I realized that we were going to be only a few miles away from each other in Hawaii, I couldn't resist scheduling a session with them! This makes our 3rd state that we've shot in together! Here's to the next 47!

Without further ado, I introduce the lovely Mr. & Mrs. Rollins!

OMG! I just realized we never did an interview when I photographed your homecoming! Ok, so let's start with the basics- how did the two of you meet?

We met while we were both in AIT (Advanced Individual Training) at Fort Gordon in Georgia. We were in the same class together.

Was there a moment when you knew he was "the one?"

Actually, when we first met I was already in a relationship with someone from back home, but that quickly ended after I met Brandon. I knew he was "the one" when he paid to fly to Mass to spend Thanksgiving with me and my family, instead of going to Cali, after only knowing me for a few months. After meeting my ENTIRE family all in 1 day, he didn't run. That's when I knew he was the "the one."

How did he propose?

When we were in AIT, we got leave over Christmas to go home. He went to Cali and I went to Mass for Christmas but he purchased tickets to fly to Mass to spend New Years with me. Little did I know, he had a little something in his pocket. We spent Dec 30th in a really nice hotel near the beach. New Year's Eve, I woke up to him playing the song "Wanted" by Hunter Hayes on his phone (later our wedding song) and a ring box in front of my face with a beautiful ring in it. I of course couldn't say no.

What's your best relationship/marriage advice?

Never go to bed mad! And always say, I love you.

So, Hawaii! How was the move from TN?

Leaving Tennessee was very bittersweet! Tennessee was the first place we lived together and the first time I moved from home, so it will always have a special place in my heart. We drove from Tennessee to Los Angeles and had SO much fun. We saw so many things, the Grand Canyon, Vegas, Cadillac Ranch, we drove on Route 66 and so much more. We made memories to last a lifetime.

What has been your favorite part of HI life so far?

I love the scenery in Hawaii! Not only are the beaches beautiful but so are the mountains! I love it.

Are there any downsides to living in paradise?

The biggest downside to living in paradise is being so far away from family and flights to leave the island are outrageous.

Where do you see yourselves in 10 years?

In 10 years, I see us living in a beautiful home in Massachusetts together with a family. Hopefully a boy and a girl. Brandon on the other hand could do without the Massachusetts part, so I guess in 10 years we'll see who had won that battle ;)
