San Diego At-Home and Cliffside Engagement: Angela & Rob
Happy new year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season!
January is for catching up on my ever-neglected blog. While scrolling through my photos, I realized I never shared one of my favorite sessions! Granted, the beautiful bride-to-be is my sister, so I'm a little biased, but c'mon- these two, their adorable pittie fur babies and the La Jolla cliffside? What's not to love!
So without further ado, let's head down to San Diego to meet my gorgeous sister, Angela, and her fiancé, Rob.

How did you meet?
Angela: We met on e-harmony. At first I didn't think meeting someone online seemed very romantic. But the notion that you're supposed to meet someone when you least expect it and they're supposed to sweep you off your feet, made me feel like I had no control over my future, like it wasn't up to me, and I was supposed to just wait around for someone to find me. And when it didn't happen it made me feel like I was undeserving. But with Rob, we were both looking for love and we chose each other.
What initially attracted you to him?
He seemed very smart and laid back. Over the course of our first date I quickly realized that we shared a lot of the same interests and outlooks on life. I immediately felt comfortable and safe around him, like we were on the same team.

Was there a moment when you knew he was "the one?"
When he made me a breathalyzer. It sounds weird, but when we started dating, I was handling a lot of DUI cases [she's an attorney]. He's an engineer, so we talked about the science of DUI's a lot. One time he bragged that he could easily make a breathalyzer and I LOVED the idea. So over the next few months he secretly made one and surprised me with it as a birthday present.
How did he propose?
The least embarrassing version of this story is that the holidays were coming up and I was telling him how sad I felt for all of the Christmas trees that get cut down but don't get picked at the Christmas tree farm and are then turned to mulch (hint hint, right?). When we were home for the holidays last year, Rob and I exchanged gifts the day after Christmas. For my last gift, he took me to the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree Grove at the Windsor Town Green and told me he was there to pick out his Christmas tree. Then he got down on one knee and proposed.
What's your favorite thing about him?
His goofy side because it's so rare to see. He'll randomly start rapping bay area music. It's hilarious because judging by his taste of music today you wouldn't expect him to know all the lyrics to Too Short or Keak da Sneak.
It's a typical Saturday night. What are you two up to?
Probably going out for dinner and drinks at one of our favorite restaurants, going to a show at the symphony, or a play at the Old Globe, or staying at home and watching a movie with the pups.
Who are the vicious pit bulls in the pictures and how would you describe their personalities?

Jax is the white one, he's 4; and Jazzy is the brown one, she's 12 (we think). Rob found Jax on the side of the road when he was just a puppy, and we adopted Jazzy from Pit Bull Rescue San Diego, after Rob fostered her for 2 years. Jax loves his sister, bones, ice cubes, going on walks, and snuggling. He hates the rain, lighting, and the scale at the vet. Jazzy loves to sleep... a lot... when she's not sleeping she likes to go on short walks and give lots of kisses to her little brother.
What's one of your favorite memories together?
Our first trip to Yosemite together. It was a long drive and we camped, which could have been disastrous for a new couple, but instead we kind of fell into our natural rhythm. Now we go back every year.
What are you most looking forward to when it comes to married life?
Nothing spectacularly different than our daily routine together, like we do now. After my sister (you, haha!) got married, you told me the best thing about married life is knowing that no matter what happens, good or bad, that you'll still be together in the end. I didn't really understand that until now, and I wouldn't ask for more. It's like Harry from When Harry Met Sally said "when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible."
